Ashby De La Zouch Becomes the Newest Area to Fly the Purple Flag in 2022

Ashby de la Zouch is officially celebrating today after receiving the news that they have been awarded the prestigious Purple Flag accreditation for its evening and night-time economy (ENTE) – similar to the Blue Flag for beaches – which aims to raise the standard and broaden the appeal of town and city centres between the hours of 17:00 & 05:00. Areas awarded the Purple Flag are recognised for providing a vibrant and diverse mix of dining, entertainment and culture while promoting the safety and wellbeing of visitors and local residents.

The last few years have not been what anyone expected and we have had to tread new territory in the fight against COVID-19. Purple Flag has been important to many of our towns and cities who hold the accreditation during lockdown as well as being instrumental in the reopening policies and strategies with key stakeholders as our towns and cities adjust to the new way of life with the pandemic.

Highlights  from Ashby de la Zouch’s submission include fantastic brand extension by the business sector, clear and proactive initiatives, and a picturesque and inviting streetscape.

It is absolutely fantastic that we have once again been awarded the Full Renewal accreditation.

We put a lot of effort in to our submission and we are pleased that the hard work has paid off.

Ashby is a lovely town to visit with a vibrant night time economy which caters for all ages.

Over the past five years we have strived to maintain and exceed the high standards, ensuring we have a safe and welcoming town for everyone to enjoy now and in the future.

Cllr John Coxon – Leader, Ashby de la Zouch Town Council.

In addition to Ashby de la Zouch we celebrate an additional 10 areas receiving a Full Renewal accreditation, and 12 areas who are receiving an Interim Renewal accreditation.
