Proposed Traffic Regulation Order - A511 - Ashby de la Zouch - Imposition of a 40mph Speed Limit

THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL hereby gives notice that it proposes to make an Order under Sections 5, 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, the effect of which will be to impose a 40 mph Speed Limit on A511 from the junction of Heath Lane to the roundabout junction of Nottingham Road including the roundabout bypass slip road and the roundabout of new access road approximately 1003 metres north-west of its roundabout junction of Nottingham road.

Leicestershire County Council proposes to make the following order:

On behalf of the developer Bloor Homes/Taylor Wimpey Group and approved under planning consent 18/00423/FULM, it is necessary to reduce part of the existing national speed limit and introduce a 40mph speed limit extension on the A511 from junction of Heath Lane to roundabout at junction of Nottingham Road, Ashby de la Zouch. This is to facility construction of a new roundabout.

The proposed 40mph speed limit extension is intended to improve safety for access and egress at and on the new roundabout and provide a safe highway environment.

This order will see a 40mph speed limit on the following roads:

A511 from junction of Heath Lane to roundabout at junction of Nottingham Road, Ashby de la Zouch.

This scheme is being introduced on the grounds of road safety.
